Boudoir for Beginners: What to Expect at Your First Session

Did you know? Most clients that walk through our doors are first timers! First time doing boudoir, first time being in lingerie in front of relative strangers and sometimes, first time doing a photoshoot! 

So we’re most certainly well equipped to help you through your session, just like we have with every previous Diva, and walk you through the process to make the experience as easy and fun as possible!

Your first escape into the boudoir sphere is often about rediscovering your confidence, honouring your beautiful body and giving yourself a moment to unleash the goddess that has been lurking, waiting for her time to shine!

Here’s a little peek behind the curtain at what to expect at your first session and why you absolutely CAN do this.

Nerves are Normal

Let’s be honest - stripping down in front of a camera can sound a little intimidating at first. But here’s the secret: you don’t need to know how to pose, what to wear or how to look sexy… That’s our job!

Walking into the studio with some nervous energy is perfectly okay! You’re doing something new and unique, and boudoir itself is a vulnerable venture to embark on, but with the right people, it is also a magical revolution of confidence, comfort and discovery. 

Our tip: take a deep breath and don’t be afraid to ask questions…

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be guided through everything. We chat, we laugh, and we take things at your pace. Before you know it, you’ll forget there’s even a camera involved, it’ll just feel like you’re hanging out with friends in gorgeous lighting, in a space that’s all about celebrating YOU.

You’ll Get Pampered from the Start

We work with highly qualified professional hair and makeup artists who not only know the tricks of the trade to amplify your natural beauty, but also put you at ease and create a warm and welcoming environment. 

Whether you want soft and romantic or bold and sultry, we’ll ensure your look matches your personality and comfort level.

What to Wear (and Not to Stress About)

Bring your favourite lingerie items with you to your session - the ones that you simply adore, don’t get to wear enough or just KNOW will be a showstopper! The team will choose a few pieces that will compliment our sets and lighting, so no need to overthink this yourself! You’re welcome to pack a handful of items, and we’ll help you choose on the day if the indecision takes over!

If you have no idea what to bring… Here are a few tips and tricks to tailor your selection!

Do you only have one or two items, or maybe you booked last minute and don’t have time to shop? We have an extensive Client Closet to utilise which has a range of sizes, colours, styles and vibes that will look fabulous on you! 

Plus, if opting for select Specialty Sets, we have some props and accessories included as well!

We can offer a flannel shirt, denim shorts, boots or a cowgirl hat within our Country Goddess set, Twilight includes our REAL candles to pose amongst and our Midnight Vixen set includes the use of our Pole, X-Frame and handcuffs!

Full Posing Guidance - Every Step of the Way

One of the most common concerns when wanting to do a photoshoot is not knowing how to pose. But fret not, we help you every single step of the way!

From assisting you with every single pose, demonstrating the easiest way to get into them and fixing up any little details that will make the image pop; we take the guesswork out of your session and ensure you make the most of your time with us and receive an array of different poses and scenes to choose from in your Image Reveal!

Our posing guidance is backed by years of experience and hundreds of hours of study. Not to mention the time invested into our photography and lighting skills to ensure your body is flattered and photographed to perfection!

Our studio is a judgment-free zone. No expectations, no pressure - just empowerment, laughter, and a team cheering you on every step of the way.

You could say that a requirement to work at Angel Eyes is a passion for empowerment, a desire to create a safe space for women to express their femininity and an ability to make what may seem like a daunting experience, one that is comfortable, fun and transformative. 

If being photographed in lingerie is daunting enough as is and even thinking about our Implied or Full Nude sets sends your mind spinning, let us ease your mind. Not only are these sets entirely optional and dependent 100% on your comfort level, but you also won’t need to make a decision until part way through your session! You’ll only be asked about these optional sets once you’ve moved through a number of poses, eased into the environment and acquired a better idea of the experience, ONLY THEN will we ask your preference. No pressure, no stress.

Many of our clients tell us their boudoir session became a turning point - a chance to reconnect with their confidence, their beauty, and their strength. It’s not just about photos. It’s about how you feel when you see them.

The Big Reveal

Once your session is complete, we’ll move onto your private viewing where you will see your images for the first time. Yourself and Mel will look through all your incredible images and you will see how much you slayed your session, and before you ask… YES! That IS you, you’re stunning!!!

This is where you’ll  see a version of yourself that’s always been there - bold, beautiful, confident and unapologetically you! 

Here’s where you're able to select your fave snaps, decide on your Image Collection and run through our flexible payment options. Mel will be there for as much or as little help as you need to decide what you want to walk away with. 

Whether you choose stunning albums or wall art for yourself (or someone special), delicious digitals or any of our other amazing displays, you’ll have something timeless that reminds you of your power.
